Calgary Retina Consultants are located on the 2nd floor of the Southern Alberta Eye Centre (SAEC). This facility is one of the most advanced ophthalmic care centres in Western Canada equipped with state-of-the-art surgical and diagnostic technology. By having access to these technologies on-site, Calgary Retina Consultants can provide patients with comprehensive treatment options for all retinal conditions, usually all on the same visit.
Effective treatment and management of retinal conditions often depends upon early diagnosis. Beyond normal eye exams, Calgary Retina Consultants is able to perform sophisticated testing with the diagnostic tools available inside the facility.
Tests available at SAEC Diagnostics include:
- Visual Fields
- A-Scan / B-Scan Ultrasounds
- Ophthalmic Ultrasound Biomicroscope (UBM)
- Fluorescein Angiography
- Indocyanine Green Angiography (ICG)
- Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT)
- Fundus Photography

In addition to SAEC Diagnostics and Surgical Centre, the facility is also home to a state of the art educational wing for ophthalmologists and those studying the treatment of eye conditions and diseases; here, Calgary Retina Consultants schedules bi-monthly seminars for vitreoretinal surgeons.
The Southern Alberta Eye Center building also contains offices for many of Calgary’s award winning ophthalmologist, as well as providing a pharmacy and cafe on the ground floor.
